Introduction

Dietetic Clinic

Diet is a very important aspect of life and our dietary habits are closely related to our health. The Dietetic Clinic is committed to educate the community on proper nutrition and health concerns by offering all-round dietetic programmes. It is a teaching and training centre that complements both nutrition and dietetic courses offered by HKU SPACE, and provides the means for further research and development to help us benefit the community.

 

Our Mission

To ensure that individuals receive the most appropriate dietetic advice to optimise their health status, leading to a better quality of life.

 

Clinic Staff

Our staff are registered dietitians who can design a high quality dietary programme to suit an individual's needs and achieve personal goals.

Dr. Wendy Ma

 

Dr Wendy MA

Dr Ma graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia and is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Dietitians Association of Australia (APD, Australia) and a Member of Register of Dietitians accredited by Department of Health, HK. She has extensive dietetic experience having worked in both public and private hospitals both in Hong Kong and overseas. As a clinical dietetics educator for dietetic students, she has also been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Dietitian with various Hospital Authority hospitals.

MS KAMMY YEUNG

Kammy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics degree from the University of Sydney. She also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Diabetes Management and Education from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed the training course of The Low FODMAP Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome from Monash University. She is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (Australia) and a member of Register of Dietitians accredited by Department of Health. She has extensive working experience in both private and public hospitals as a clinical dietitian.

Ms. Karen Rita Chang obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of British Columbia, Canada and Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Ulster, U.K..  She is a Registered Dietitian in the United Kingdom and an Accredited Dietitian in Hong Kong.  Ms. Chang has extensive working experience in the private setting as a clinical dietitian.  She has been providing dietetic consultations in the Dietetic Clinic of HKU SPACE since 2002.

(1) Individual Nutrition Consultation

Your weight, body composition and diet will be evaluated by a dietitian.

The consultation will be provided to individuals who suffer from:

  • Overweight or underweight problems
  • Diabetes
  • Renal disease
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Elevated blood lipid
  • Gout
  • Fatty Liver
 
 

(2) Nutrition Therapy and Health Check Plans

Regular monitoring of health status is important for maintaining good health. This service provides both health check (assessed by a general practitioner) and nutrition assessment/consultation (conducted by a registered dietitian). Clients have the option of joining plans that include

  • Basic plan (nutrition assessment; standard health check; detailed medical report; follow-up doctor consultation for report interpretation)
  • General plan (basic plan + 4 sessions of individual nutrition consultations)
  • Extended plan (basic plan + 8 sessions of individual nutrition consultations)
 
 
 

Fee Structure

- Individual Nutrition Consultation   $650 (new case) / $540 (follow-up visits)

Elderly Health Care Voucher

Our dietitians are registered service providers under the HKSAR Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme. Eligible persons may make use of the Health Care Vouchers Scheme to pay for dietetic consultations.

 

(I) Eligibility
 

Elderly persons aged 65 or above and holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card or Certificate of Exemption issued by the Immigration Department, except for those who obtained a Hong Kong Identity Card by virtue of a previous permission to land or remain in Hong Kong granted to him/ her and such permission has expired or ceased to be valid, are eligible to receive and use the vouchers to pay for private primary healthcare services.

The Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme now allows two elderly persons in spousal relationship, both aged 65 or above and eligible to use health care vouchers, to share use their vouchers after pairing up their voucher accounts upon mutual consent. After pairing up their accounts, either party can, upon exhaustion of his/her voucher account balance, use the voucher in his/her spouse’s account. Elderly persons can also use electronic consent to give consent to the use of voucher amount.

 

(ii) How to make use of the Elderly Health Care Voucher?
 

1. Present your valid Hong Kong Identity Card or Certificate of Exemption to the dietetic clinic staff and indicate your intention to make use of the voucher.

2. After receiving the consultation(s), sign the consent form and confirm the voucher amount to be used.

3. The dietetic clinic staff will furnish you with a record of the voucher use.

Elderly Health Care Voucher

We offer individual nutritional counselling for various conditions:

- Weight Management

- Diabetes

- Hyperlipidemia / Abnormal cholesterol level

- Others

 

Our comprehensive health programmes include:

$2600 (5 sessions)

$4860 (10 sessions)

 

Each session involve nutritional assessment and individual consultation conducted by qualified dietitian. The initial appointment range from 45 mins to 1 hour. Each follow-up session takes approximately 30 minutes.
