Samson graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1987 with a Master Degree in Marketing. He is Fellow Member of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, and Member of Chartered Institute of Marketing and American Marketing Association. He has worked in the electronic industry for over 10 years, and has gained substantial experiences in international business. Since 1991, Samson has also held visiting appointments at several higher education institutions. Prior to joining HKU SPACE, he worked in the IVE as lecturer teaching marketing, strategic management and logistics. His main areas of interest are global marketing, marketing communications and service marketing.
