You must meet the minimum requirements specified in this section as well as specific entrance requirements set out for individual programmes.

Associate Degree Programmes / Higher Diploma Programmes

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)

  • Level 2 or above in five subjects* (including English Language and Chinese Language#);

OR

Other Qualifications

  •  A Diploma in Foundation Studies;

OR

  • Diploma of Applied Education, Diploma Yi Jin or equivalent qualification(s);

OR

  • Equivalent qualification(s) (e.g. GCE A-level, International A-level, IB Diploma, SAT) will be considered by the College.

 

Diploma in Foundation Studies Programme

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)

  • Level 1 or above in English Language and Chinese Language#AND at least 6 points^ in the best five subjects*†♦;

OR

Other Qualifications

  • Completed at least Secondary 5; AND gained in International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Grade C (or Grade 4) or above in a minimum of 5 subjects including English Language and another language subject;

OR

  • Equivalent qualifications

 
Specific entrance requirements for individual programmes:
 
Associate of Arts in English Language and Literature Level 3 or above in HKDSE English Language, or equivalent.
Associate of Arts in Legal Studies Level 3 or above in HKDSE English Language, or equivalent.
Associate of Arts in Media, Cultural and Creative Studies (Music Theme) Certificate of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) music theory with Grade 5 or above, or equivalent.
Associate of Biomedical Sciences Level 2 or above in HKDSE Biology and Chemistry, or Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Biology and Chemistry), or Level 2 or above in HKDSE Biology/Chemistry plus Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Biology/Chemistry), or equivalent.
Associate of Chinese Medicine Some courses are delivered in Putonghua.
Associate of Economics Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core), or equivalent.
Associate of Nursing Studies Level 2 or above in HKDSE Biology/Chemistry, or Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Biology/Chemistry); or equivalent.
Associate of Science Level 2 or above in one of the following HKDSE subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Extended Module I / II), or Level 3 or above in HKDSE Combined Science; or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Architectural Studies Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core), or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Data Science Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core), or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Dental Hygiene Level 2 or above in HKDSE Biology or Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Biology), or equivalent.

Special consideration may be given to applicants who have experience of working in a dental clinic and / or are holders of a Diploma in Dental Surgery Assisting or an equivalent qualification. 
Higher Diploma in Engineering Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core) or a science subject, or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Geotechnical Engineering Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core) and one of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Combined Science or Geography, or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Healthcare and Health Plan Administration Preference will be given to applicants who have taken Biology or Combined Science (Biology) in HKDSE Examination, or Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics (Core).
Higher Diploma in Nutrition and Food Management (New) Level 2 or above in one of the following HKDSE subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Integrated Science or Technology and Living (Food Science and Technology), or equivalent.
Higher Diploma in Translation and Interpretation Level 3 or above in HKDSE English Language; and have three years of study in Putonghua in secondary school, or equivalent.

Applicants should apply for admission to the Diploma in Foundation Studies Programme if their public examination results do not meet the entrance requirement of the associate degree or higher diploma programmes.

Mature Students

Applicants who do not possess the above academic qualifications but are aged 21 or above with relevant working experience will be considered on individual merit.

Applicants with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities

Applicants with special educational needs or disabilities should describe their condition on the application form. This information will help the College better understand the applicant's requirements so that every effort can be made to meet his or her needs.

Credit Transfer

Students with relevant post-secondary education background may apply for credit transfer for their previous academic qualifications. An application form for credit transfer can be downloaded by clicking the link here. Students should submit the application form with supporting documents 20 working days before the commencement of each semester. The supporting documents should include but not be limited to the course syllabus, course learning outcomes, Qualifications Framework Level, academic performance, year of award, contact hours etc. A maximum of 50% of the total credits of a College programme might be transferred from students’ previous studies.  

 
Remarks:
* Applicants are allowed to use not more than two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects in the application.  The recognition of the ApL subjects are as follows: 
•  “Attained with Distinction (II)” is deemed equivalent to Level 4 or above in the HKDSE Examination;
•  “Attained with Distinction (I)” is deemed equivalent to Level 3 in the HKDSE Examination; and
•  “Attained” is deemed equivalent to Level 2 in the HKDSE Examination.
† If one of the five HKDSE subjects is Citizenship and Social Development, the requirement will be “Attained” for the subject.
# ApL Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students) would be accepted as an alternative Chinese Language qualification.
^ Level 5** = 7 points ; Level 5* = 6 points ; Level 5 = 5 points ; Level 4 = 4 points ; Level 3 = 3 points ; Level 2 = 2 points ; Level 1 = 1 point.
♦ If applicants have attempted less than five subjects but obtained 6 points or above, your application will still be considered.
