FAQ

1. Applying via Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) 
Applicants taking the HKDSE Examination in 2024 can submit the application via E-APP (https://www.eapp.gov.hk) from 7 December 2023 to 20 May 2024 (Main Round) and 24 May to 8 July 2024 (Second Round).
2. Applying Online
Applicants can submit your application via the College website by clicking here.
3. Admission Days (Online & In person) on 17-19 July 2024 (For local applicants only)
Applicants can submit applications via "Admission e-Flow System" on 17-19 July.  Applicants can choose to apply through online channel or in person at our Kowloon Bay campus.  Application results will be announced on the same day.

Time:  8:30am - 6:00pm

For Local Applicants
The application fee is HK$150 for 2024 entry.  Payment can be made via Visa/MasterCard, online PPS, Wechat Pay, Alipay, FPS or in person (e.g. by cash).

For Non-local Applicants
The application fee is HK$500 for 2024 entry (for interview conducted in Hong Kong).  Payment can be made via Visa/MasterCard, online PPS, Wechat Pay, Alipay, FPS or in person (e.g. by cash).

Please note that the application fee is neither refundable nor transferable.
Non-local applicants1 are those who require the following document(s) issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department to study in Hong Kong.
 
  • Student visa/Entry permit; or  
  • Visa/Entry permit under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG) ; or
  • Dependant visa/Entry permit (the holder was 18 years old or above when such Visa/Entry permit was issued)

It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to present valid identification documents to prove their identity.   The College reserves the right to revoke the student registration status, should the student fails to present valid identification document upon request of the College.

Applicants may apply for both associate degree and the higher diploma programmes offered by HKU SPACE Community College, with a maximum of three programme choices for each application.  You will receive only one offer for this application if your application is successful. If the programme you are offered is cancelled because of insufficient enrolment or other unforeseeable difficulties, you will be admitted to your next choice, subject to your meeting the minimum entrance requirements and the availability of places in that programme.
For Current DSE Applicants
The College will notify the applicants the admission arrangement and issue the Conditional Offer to successful applicants via email normally within two weeks after the interview.
For Applicants with Other Qualifications other than Current HKDSE
The College will notify the applicants the admission arrangement and issue the Conditional / Firm Offer to successful applicants via email.
Applicants are required to upload your supporting document(s) such as school transcripts, public examination results notice, certificates, working proof, etc. For the details, please refer to the email.
Successful applicants will be granted a conditional / firm offer via email within a month after the interview, subject to all the required documents have been submitted.

You should demonstrate you understand the programme well and have genuine interest in it.  There is no need to be nervous, instead, you should treat the interview as a chance to communicate with your future teachers.  Relax and be yourself!
For Current DSE Applicants
Applicants holding 2024 HKDSE qualification who meet the condition should claim the offer online via "iEnrol" between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm on 17 July 2024. Please visit www.hkuspace.hku.hk/cc/admission/ienrol/. You can also refer to the conditional offer email for details. 

For Applicants with Qualifications other than Current DSE
Applicants please follow the instructions stated in the Conditional Offer email.

The College reserves the right to withdraw the offer if the applicant failed to claim the offer before the prescribed deadline, even if all the required conditions have been met.
The College will consider your 2nd or 3rd programme choice.  You will be notified of the updated arrangement (if any) by SMS or email in 2 working days after the release of HKDSE examination results.  You may apply again if there are no updates from the College, provided that you meet the minimum entrance requirement for the respective programme.  Kindly note whether the application is successful or not will rest on the programme availability, interview performance, and the academic results of the applicant.
Current DSE applicants are required to settle the registration fee by 22 July 2024 (12:00 noon) and settle the balance payment by 8 August 2024.   For applicants with qualifications other than current DSE, the payment deadline of 1st tuition fee will normally be 2-5 working days after issuance of offer letter.  Failing to settle the payment by the deadline will result in offer being automatically withdrawn by the College.  Applicants are strongly advised to refer to their offer letter for the respective payment deadlines in case of doubt.
ApL Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students) can be accepted as an alternative Chinese Language qualification.  However, applicants should have grade "Attained" or above for the subject.

Also, applicants who take GCE or GCSE Chinese with grade E (or grade 3) or above will also be regarded as an acceptable alternative Chinese Language qualification.
The College will review the relevant documents (e.g. transcript) of the applicant on a case by case basis.  Applicants are advised to bring along all the documents which demonstrate their academic abilities for application.  
Students with relevant post-secondary education background may apply for credit transfer for their previous academic qualifications. Application form for credit transfer can be downloaded by clicking the link here. Students should submit the application form with supporting documents 20 working days before the commencement of each semester. The supporting documents should include but not limited to the course syllabus, course learning outcomes, Qualifications Framework Level, academic performance, year of award, contact hours etc. A maximum of 50% of the total credits of a College programme might be transferred from students’ previous studies.
 
Unless otherwise specified and language courses, all courses in HKU SPACE Community College are instructed in English.
Instructional activities are delivered through face-to-face classroom meetings, laboratories, practical and etc.  The College also makes use of different online learning platforms, like SOUL, Zoom to conduct learning activities as appropriate.
To be awarded a Diploma in Foundation Studies, students should fulfill ALL the following requirements:
 
  1. obtain at least 30 credits of courses as prescribed in the curricula of the programme.  
  2. achieve a Cumulative GPA of 1.7 or above;
  3. obtain grade C- or above in all core English courses;
  4. obtain a pass for the course CCSA8002A&B – Seminar Series.

To be awarded an Associate Degree / Higher Diploma, students should fulfill ALL the following requirements:

  1. obtain at least 60 credits of courses as prescribed in the Years 1 and 2 curricula of the programme for which they are registered.  The curricular credits requirements varies with individual programmes. For details, please contact Programme Co-ordinator.
  2. achieve a Cumulative GPA of 1.7 or above;
  3. obtain grade C- or above in all core English courses;
  4. obtain a pass for the course CCSA8004 – China’s Development, Hong Kong and the National Security Law.
