  • Course Description

    This course aims to provide vocational training for library assistants and those working in children and school libraries. This course shares a common examination with the Chinese class.

    Articulation to Higher Level Programme:
    Candidates successfully complete this programme can apply for admission to
    a. Higher Diploma in Library and Information Management offered by HKUSPACE;
    b. Bachelor of Information Studies, Charles Sturt University

    Part 1  Library Routines and Methods

    Part 2  General Library Principles and Practice

    Part 3  Children’s and School Libraries

    Part 4  Practical Work (for acquisition, reference services classification and cataloguing) and Library Visits.

  • Award

    Practical work and library visits are compulsory. Assessment is based on final examination and attendance (75%). The Certificate in Librarianship received by successful students is awarded jointly by HKU SPACE and Hong Kong Library Association. 

  • Entry Requirements

    Applicants should:

    • possess 5 HKCEE subjects, including English, at grade E or above, or equivalent;

    Priority will be given to those working in libraries. If possible, applicants should submit a recommendation letter from their employers with their applications.

    • HK$7,870 per programme
