Plan Your Legend
HKU SPACE themed this campaign around the slogan “Live it, Learn it” to further promote its education philosophy of lifelong learning. The main character of the short film – Leonardo da Vinci — showed insistence on investigating the truth behind everything, which made him both a prolific fine artist and scientist in human history, living his own immortal legend. As usual, HKU SPACE offers a full range of programmes to cater for the changes in social structure and the specific needs of those in pursuit of further education. They include the Health and Applied Sciences series; Business and Finance series; and Art and Humanities series. In the sea of knowlege, through learning and asking, may we all reveal our very own personal Legends. |

Learn the business wisdom. One of the most famous tycoons in Chinese history, Fan Li was also an advisor of the Yue king towards the end of the Spring and Autumn Period (circa 496 BC). Fan suggested the bitterly defeated king traded time for political assets with his famous stratagem — “10 years to grow Yue’s population; 10 more years to learn from past lessons and train the people.” As he promised, Fan managed to help the Yue king beat the Wu king at last and revived the Yue kingdom 20 years later. He promptly resigned from his duty after that and started his business in the state of Qi (modern-day Shandong province), calling himself the Leather-wine-pouch-fellow. Fan reaped a fortune quickly as a highly successful businessman, but he donated all his money to the poor. Together with his followers and family, Fan moved to a place called Tao in Qi later on and people called him Lord Tao Zhu. Lord Tao Zhu led a legendary life — “living up to a minister’s role as a government official; making up to thousand teals of gold as a commoner.” He was an outstanding politician and merchant and his deeds were immortalis ed ever after. By analysing the story of the entrepreneur progenitor in Chinese history, we hope to inspire the business wisdom among all. HKU SPACE Business and Finance s eries covers accounting, finance, management and marketing, with an array of courses on different levels. From diploma programmes to master’s degrees, we strive to provide quality education that upgrades professional standards, creating business Legends in this international hub of commerce. [More] |

Learn humanities and art Antoni Gaudi, a Spanish architect active in the late 19th Century, is also one of the most innovative and influential thinker in history. He reconciled two seemingly opposing elements in architecture – functional structure and decorative ornaments, while breaking with the restraints of architectural tradition that had prevailed for over 300 years. Gaudi fused art with architecture in his original and creative spirits, imbuing his designs with profound substance that exceeded the sheer level of craftsmanship. Cold rigid stones and bricks were turned into an organic whole which almost seems to animate itself in fluid motion, just like a piece of beautifully composed music, or a poetic emotion-laden stanza. Gaudi revitalised the history of architecture, making himself a grand master in architectural art, orchestrating his very own personal Legend. HKU SPACE Art and Humanities series cover art, architecture, design, humanities and music. Programmes are offered on various levels, ranging from diploma programmes to research-based master’s degrees. [More] |
