As trees are an essential part of natural and man-made landscape and they help in preventing land erosion and reducing carbon dioxide in the air, the study of trees or arboriculture is vital to effective landscaping. Similarly, the study and use of plants (or horticulture) which provide privacy, define space, reduce glare and noise and ameliorate microclimates, is of equal importance to urban environment. Hence, the Certificate in Horticulture and Arboriculture, which encompasses these two elements, is considered as a companion programme to our Certificate in Landscape Design.
