Public awareness of the importance of nutrition and health has increased the demand for quality education in food and nutrition. Since 1995, the Dietetics, Food and Nutrition area has offered quality education in food and nutritional sciences to those with a personal or professional interest in the field.

We provide an extensive articulation network of programmes for students who wish to study part-time, from short courses, certificates, and diplomas to degree (Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Food and Nutrition) and Master levels (MSc/PgD in Human Nutrition / Dietetics).

Our flagship programme, the Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics, is the only local programme that trains students to be dietitians. Graduates are qualified for employment as dietitians in Hong Kong with the Hong Kong Department of Health and the Hospital Authority. In addition, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as dietitians with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council, UK).

The aim of this programme is to provide students with an understanding and basic knowledge of nutrition that will better equip them to assist clients to optimize their sporting and exercise performance through good nutrition. All students will initially enrol on the Advanced Certificate in Sport and Exercise Nutrition programme and upon successful completion may enrol onto the Advanced Diploma in Sport and Exercise Nutrition programme.

現代人生活繁忙,導致不良飲食習慣及往往忽略了自身健康。此課程旨在教導都市人基本營養學原則及了解健康飲食,並示範如何透過簡單的烹調方法,製作出美味而健康的菜色。課程包括四個烹調工作坊,導師會示範相關健康烹飪技巧。而學員亦會於每一節課跟隨導師實踐健康煮食。學員透過工作坊內的訓練,除可掌握基本烹調技巧及預備特色菜餚的配製,更能認識到營養學﹑食物安全以及兒童及長者營養需要的原則。這樣,學員便可將之實踐於日常生活當中,設計及執行個人以至家庭的健康餐單,以提高飲食質素及健康狀況。

為配合政府的認可衛生管理計劃,學院舉辦此基礎食物衛生課程,為在職及未來食肆衛生經理講解食物衛生的安全原則及運作模式。實踐課程所學知識,不但可為顧客提供安全食物,更可藉此恢復並提高社會對食肆的信心。成功修畢此課程的學員將獲香港大學專業進修學院頒發的「基本飲食業衛生經理證書」。
