In appreciation of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA)’s generosity and support, HKU SPACE held a naming ceremony for the “CMA Computer Centre” at the HKU SPACE Community College (Kowloon East Campus) on 22 March 2017.

CMA has helped to ease the financial burden of needy students hoping to reach their full potential in life with a donation of HK$300,000.

The naming ceremony was officiated by Dr Eddy S H Li BBS JP, President of CMA and Professor William Lee, Director of HKU SPACE.

In his address, Dr Li said that the pace of global change today is faster than ever and companies need to be innovative in order to stay successful.  With HKU SPACE being one of the leading institutions in continuing education, Dr Li hoped that the donation would not only help enhance their delivery of education, but also encourage lifelong learning, which he believes is the best way forward to prepare our industry and our city for the future.

Professor William Lee extended his gratitude to the CMA for their support. He said that HKU SPACE has been nurturing the potential of students since 1957 and this year marks the 60th Anniversary of the School.

Throughout this time, HKU SPACE has endeavoured to provide quality and comprehensive sub-degree education for secondary school graduates and since 2000, has nurtured over 30,000 graduates with more than 20,000 going on to local or overseas bachelor’s degree programmes. The CMA’s support would help students with financial needs to get one step closer to achieving their goals in furthering their education.
