Course Description

The programme is to prepare students for a career in the marketing communications and advertising industry, or any mainstream marketing role. The emphasis is on marketing planning and strategy formulation, including strategies for advertising and integrated marekting communications. This degree is relevant to the requirements of today’s global economy that students will gain theoretical concepts as well as the application knowledge to commerce and industry. It is a fully-accredited Australian undergraduate degree. Graduates in Hong Kong will be awarded the Bachelor of Commerce degree which is identical to the one awarded to students at the main campus in Australia. 

Hong Kong students enrolled on this programme may apply to transfer to complete their studies at the main campus, any time during their course of studies.

Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance
These are exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Duration

  • The programme duration is 2.7 years minimum for a study of 16 units (400 credits)
    Weekly Lectures: 7:00 - 10:00pm and Intensive Seminars on Saturday and Sunday

  • Each unit has 24 hours of teaching with local lecturers, plus 12 hours of teaching contact with Curtin academic staff.
  • Assessment is based on coursework and examinations, which are set by Curtin staff.

This programme is accredited by the International Advertising Association (IAA), one of the leading global organisations in its field with 61 Chapters in 95 countries.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should

  1. Have qualifications equivalent to the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce degree. Such as a Professional Diploma in Marketing awarded by HKU SPACE and HKIM, or a Higher Diploma in Sales, Marketing and Advertising from HKU SPACE, or other suitable academic or professional qualifications of equivalent standard.
  2. demonstrate English proficiency by achieving one of the followings :      

i.  HKCEE minimum of Grade C in English Language (Syllabus B); or Level 3 in English Language; or

ii. HKDSE minimum of Level 3 in English Language; or

iii. TOEFL minimum score of 90 (internet based with 22 in each sector); or

iv. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with minimum scores of Writing & Speaking 6.0; Reading & Listening 6.0; Overall 6.5

  • Complete Curtin University Application for Admission form. 
  • An application processing fee of HK$150 applies.  Cheques should be crossed and made payable to "HKU SPACE".  The fee is non-refundable.
  • Two sets of educational qualifications with transcripts showing details of results obtained.  Please note that these documents must be "certified true copies".
  • Copy of HKID card
  • Applications should be in person at one of our HKUSPACE Learning Centre
