This work-based learning studies programme is designed as top-up degree programme that aim to nurture housing and built environment practitioners with theoretical knowledge and work-based competencies in the fields of real estate.

Work Based Learning Studies (WBS) is an innovative and effective way of learning. It is centered on the principle that learning takes place in all areas of life, NOT just in classroom. It recognizes individuals’ practical experience and helps them gain internationally recognized academic qualifications from a combination of work experience, research and project work. Students of WBS are required to commit substantially in self-directed studies and can achieve a university award based on project they actually undertake in their jobs.

The Institute for Work Based Learning (IWBL) of Middlesex University is the pioneer in the development of WBS in the UK and has been offering WBS programmes from Certificate to Doctorate levels since 1995. In addition, it provides teaching and learning resources for local WBS students.
