Course Description
The Certificate in Islamic Finance 1 aims to provide students with knowledge in the fundamental concepts of Islamic law and contracts and its application to Islamic financial products. Development of Islamic capital market and various features of Islamic financial products would also be covered.
The programme is designed to provide students with understanding of :
- the features of Islamic Finance
- the fundamental concepts of Islamic law and contracts
- the application of Islamic law, standards and contracts to Islamic financial products
- the global Islamic capital market developments
- the basic principles governing the Islamic capital markets
- the features of various Islamic financial products

- 3 to 4 hours per meeting

* Graduates of the Certificate in Islamic Finance 2 programme will be eligible to apply for the CIMA Certificate in Islamic Finance.
Class Schedule
Classes will be held on weekday evenings or weekends.

Entry Requirements
Applicants shall:
- (a) have gained in the HKCEE Grade E or above in 4 subjects (including Mathematics), and level 2 or above in English Language *or equivalent; plus 2 years of working experience; OR
- (b) be aged at least 23 with at least 2 years of working experience.
- Applicants with other relevant qualifications will be considered on individual merits.
* With effect from 2007, HKU SPACE recognizes Grade E previously awarded for English language (Syllabus B) (Grade C in English Language (Syllabus A)) at HKCEE as an acceptable alternative to Level 2 in the subject at HKCEE.
