Course Description

HKU SPACE is one of the institutions in Hong Kong given “Diploma Teaching Status” to teach the Diploma in Law programme to prepare students for the University of London examinations.

Students can transfer to Year 2 of the LLB programme on successful completion of three or four subjects on the Diploma.

It is awarded by the University of London.

Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance
These are exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Duration

  • 1 – 5 years (2 papers each year or 4 papers a year)
    HKU SPACE only provides 2 papers route.

Tuition and Learning Support

  • Face-to-face weekly tuition by HKU SPACE full-time and part-time teaching staff
  • 3-hour each session, on Saturday afternoons and some Sunday mornings
  • 45 contact hours in total per subject (including 36 hours of lectures and 9 hours of tutorials/revision)
  • optional 6 hour examination preparation class (to be charged separately)
  • access to information technology facilities
  • access to HKU Main/Law Library is available upon paying the requisite fee

Attendance Requirement

Students are required to attend a full or part time course of instruction at an institution that is given "Diploma Teaching Status" to teach for this purpose. Students must comply with the attendance requirements of the institution. The University of London may refuse permission to sit an examination to a student who has not satisfied these requirements.

  • Note: If you do not intend to sit examination in the first year, you have to pay examination fee* (including local examination fee) in the second year only. Please also note that there may be a fee adjustment for the above in 2014/2015.

Entry Requirements

Applicant must be aged 18 or over before 1 September in the year of registration and should have a good command of English. 

An admission test and/or interview may be required.
