  • Course Description

    The programme introduces students to the basic principles and practices in setting up an archives and in managing the historical records in their organizations.  It is useful and relevant to administrators and officers whose responsibilities are in strategic planning, resources allocation and information management work such as records management.

    Historical records are essential and irreplaceable resources of an organization.  A properly set up and managed archive ensures an organization with a historical perspective which would avoid or repeat managerial mistakes in the decision framework.

    This programme aims to guide students to plan, establish and manage archives in their organization to meet its present-day and future business, legal, fiscal, public relations and cultural needs.

    The programme is taught by Mr. Simon Chu, the Chief Lecturer, and assisted by other local archives specialists.

    The Chief Lecturer, Mr. Simon Chu, is the former Government Records Service Director; Special Advisor, Memory of the World Committee for Asia/Pacific Region (MOWCAP), UNESCO and Secretary General, International Council on Archives, East Asian regional Branch (EASTICA).

  • Award

    Certificate will be awarded to students who have successfully satisfied assessments (e.g. class exercises and group project) and attendance requirements (70%).
     

  • Entry Requirements

    Applicants should hold:

    • a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or
    • an Associate Degree / a Higher Diploma or equivalent, and have at least 2 years of work experience; or
    • professional qualifications / relevant professional qualifications.

    Applicants with other qualifications and relevant work experience will be considered on individual merits.
