Enterprises Risk Management

All enterprises face uncertainty and the challenge for management is to determine how much uncertainty is acceptable in the process of growing an organization. Uncertainty presents both risk and opportunity, with the potential to erode or enhance value. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) enables managers to effectively deal with uncertainty, associated risks and opportunities. It focuses on implementation of risk management programmes for an enterprise.

Duration

  • 6 - 9 months; Classes will be conducted on weekends

Medium of Instruction

  • English, supplemented with Cantonese

Programme Structure

  
  1. Enterprise Risk Management Framework
    This course is designed to help students to identify business risks, develop plans to minimize the risks and understand the pros and cons of the enterprise risk management methodology. The course also helps students to assess the effectiveness of risk operation system in an enterprise, to develop and implement risk prevention management programmes and to give advice to clients on ERM issues.
  2. Financial and Business Risk Management
    This course is designed to help students to develop an appreciation of the business and financial management aspects. It also provides students with an understanding of practical approaches to applying business and financial techniques in managing enterprise risk. It also covers management skills of managing operation and financial risks, corporate governance as related to risk management and corporate finance principles which underpin risk management disciplines.

    Classes will tentatively commence in Jan, Apr / May, Sep and Oct each year.

Uniqueness of the Programme - Additional Workshop for Executive Diploma Students

  • This programme consists of a total 90 contact hours including 8 hours Workshop of case studies for each module.

     
  • These Workshops are only tailored-made for the Executive Diploma students with real life problem solving case studies.

Professional Recognition

Holders of Executive Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management with at least five years of supervisory and management level working experience are eligible to apply for the Professional Development Certificate of DNV Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM) from DNV, after passing a DNV viva examination.  

DNV CERM application requirement:
(i)    
student shall achieve “Grade B+ or above in the examination of the module “Enterprise Risk Management Framework”  if they want to apply for the viva examination and the DNV CERM certificate.
(ii)    DNV has the right to reject the application.

DNV (Det Norske Veritas) is an independent foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment. Their history goes back to 1864, when the foundation was established in Norway to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of Norwegian merchant vessels.

Articulation

Non-finance Bachelor Degree Holders with Executive Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management are eligible to apply for Curtin University Master of Finance programme.  Admission to Master of Finance is subject to meetig the Master of Finance's entry requirement.  Susscessful admission will be granted one unit of exemption in Finance (Principles).

*2 ED ERM Modules will be exempted in PgD ERM; admission to PgD ERM is subject

  MSc in Business Management subject to the perspective programme admission
  board's approval.

Applicants should

  • hold a bachelor's degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or
  • have achieved a level in relevant professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior work experience will be considered on individual merits.

HK$150, non-refundable. Round 1 application deadline - 24 May; Round 2 application deadline - 14 June; Round 3 application deadline - 22 July. Enrollment is based on first come first serve.

Course Fee

HKD5,500 per module. All fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Enrolment Method

Students should download application form and submit the application form with supporting documents to SPACE Enrolment Centres. As a check-list, an application package for submission must include the following:

  • Your recent passport-size photograph
  • Copies of identification documents (HKID/passport)
  • Originals and one set of copy of all academic/professional Certificates and Transcripts of marks obtained
