Course Description
This programme aims to train participants who prepare to sit for the professional examination of The Institute of Internal Auditors, leading to obtaining the Certified Internal Auditor professional designation, a globally recognized certification for internal auditors.
Programme Structure
This programme consists of 4 modules, each module has 30 contact hours of teaching.
- Module 1 : The Internal Audit Activity's Role in Governance, Risk and Control
- Module 2 : Conducting the Internal Audit Engagement
- Module 3 : Business Analysis and Information Technology (*Note: It is preferable for students to have some accounting knowledge prior they study Module 3)
- Module 4 : Business Management Skills
Recently, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) announced that it will implement a change to consolidate four parts of the syllabus into three parts. As a result, Programme Team will also take the corresponding movement to implement the change with effect from 2014.

- Tuesday 7:00 - 10:00pm, starting 25 June 2013. (Module 2)
- Wednesday 7:00 - 10:00pm, starting 26 June 2013. (Module 4)

Assessment and Award
For each module, assessment is based on mid-test (30%) and internal final module examination (70%), students are also required to achieve 70% attendance.
The Executive Diploma aims to deliver the knowledge of internal audit as well as examination oriented. There will be mock examinations in form of mid-test and internal final module examination followed by examination review.
Upon successful completion of two modules, students will be awarded the Executive Certificate. And upon successful completion of four modules, students will be awarded with Executive Diploma.
Exemption
Exemption for Module 4 can be granted for qualified professional certification attained as follows: CISA, CPA (Australia), CA (Australia), CGA (Canada), CMA (Canada), CA (Canada), HKICPA, CFC, AICPA, ACCA, CIMA, ICSA and CA (UK) etc.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should
- hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or
- hold relevant professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
- Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior level work experience will be considered on individual merits.
