The AWS gives you an opportunity to develop your academic writing skills and receive detailed feedback before starting your assessed work. It also helps familiarize you with the distance learning format and aspects such as how to prepare and write assignments.

Students who successfully complete the four module assignments to the required standard may proceed to write a dissertation of between 16,000 and 20,000 words. Students are encouraged to use their own experience when deciding topics for their dissertation. An academic who has knowledge of the student’s chosen field of interest supervises the dissertation. Students who successfully complete all four assignments but do not proceed to the dissertation can be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma.
