Common Law
The programmes of Common Law Studies are dedicated to promoting legal education in Hong Kong. We offer legal education at every level, from diploma level (open to those with no formal qualifications) to degree and postgraduate levels. This is in recognition of the fact that many students will not actually progress to legal practice but may require a sound legal knowledge for their work and daily life.
As the courses offered are based on the common law, on which Hong Kong is founded and to which it remains committed, English remains the main medium of instruction and face-to-face tuition is the core teaching methodology, as it is in other common law jurisdictions. Most courses are offered on a part-time, evening and weekend basis so that students may remain in full-time employment.
Demand for these law courses remains high and entry to some programmes is highly competitive.
