Finance and Investment
Financial risk management, the rapid growth of derivatives and the emergence of new regulatory regime all present new challenges for financial institutions.
Over the past decade, the integration of finance, mathematics and statistics has yielded a variety of innovations and structured products, such as credit default swaps, collateralised debt obligations, synthetic exchange traded funds and Islamic bonds. At the same time, the financial tsunami of 2008, and the fall of star-studded hedge fund Long Term Capital Management in 1998, occurred despite the deployment of financial risk management strategies, leading financial regulators around the world to seek deeper market regulations.
With the development of closer ties with China and the emergence of new financial products and services, there are a great many career opportunities awaiting across a number of rapidly changing financial markets. There is a growing demand for professionals with knowledge of financial planning, analysis and risk management, alternative investment, treasury management and similar areas, including RMB product development.
Our comprehensive programmes cover various topics in finance and investment from the basic concepts to current issues, and range from certificate to postgraduate levels. Degree and master programmes in finance are offered in collaboration with overseas universities such as the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the US, Curtin University in Australia, and Edinburgh Napier University in the UK.
