Hospitality
Changes in the HKSAR government’s policies have led to more mainland tourists finding their way to Hong Kong. As our tourism industry grows, the parallel growth in job opportunities in the hospitality, food and beverage industries have followed suit. To meet the manpower needs of the growth of the sector, the Hospitality & Tourism Subject Group introduced its series of programmes in hospitality over a decade ago. We offer programmes at the Certificate, Advanced Diploma levels and provide an opportunity for students to articulate into a top-up honours degree programme in hospitality with Plymouth University, one of Britain’s leading universities in tourism. Students from various backgrounds can join a programme of study that suit their individual academic background and experience. The Certificate in Hospitality Management provides students with a core foundation in hospitality operations whilst those with industry experience would be able to join the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management directly before gradually moving onto the top-up Bachelor of Science (Honours) Hospitality Management programme.
Hong Kong being the “Events Capital of Asia”, the steady growth in the number and size of events has created a significant demand for professional event managers in Hong Kong. The top-up Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Festival and Event Management offered by Edinburgh Napier University, UK is designed to equip students with the skills on how to plan, design, market, operate and develop events, as well as how these events can be used to help local economies and communities.
Both local and international lecturers are top-notch and have extensive experience in the field. Taught in English, special emphasis is placed on learning through case studies, in-class discussions on current and practical issues which equip students in addressing strategic management issues in the hospitality and event sectors.
