Smart choice
The Sport, Exercise and Recreation Management subject group offers a diverse range of high quality academic programmes providing flexible pathways to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The professional development of students is supported by a variety of internationally recognised programmes valued by local employers.

High quality academic programmes
The subject group offers a wide array of short courses and award bearing programmes ranging from Certificate to Master degree level of study.  In the region of 4,000 students have graduated from our programmes among which 3,500 students have received academic awards.  Many graduates of our programmes are in senior management positions in sport, exercise or recreation management organisations.

Variety of programmes
Our variety of unique programmes are developed for persons currently working in, wish to work in, or are interested in sport, sports coaching, exercise rehabilitation, fitness, martial arts, meditation, spas and other related areas. These are designed to respond to the growing public awareness of the impact of physical activity and exercise on general health and well-being. These programmes of study prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills required, and provide routes to a choice of academic awards.

Flexible pathways to a degree
Flexible pathways have been designed to assist our students to achieve academic awards at their chosen level of study. This may be through full-time or part-time studies, face-to-face teaching, blended learning and work based learning programmes. A variety of options are provided so that students can study modules or complete programmes that best suit their interest and the time that they are available for study.

Professional development
The object of these courses is to prepare students for employment and to broaden the knowledge and skills for those working in a diverse range of organisations, including government agencies, rehabilitation centres, social services agencies, clubs, hotels, fitness centres, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), health promotions, schools, sports associations, tertiary institutions, and communities and commercial health consultants.

International recognition
The programmes have been well received by the industry both locally and internationally due to the network that the School has with employers, professional bodies and reputable overseas universities sustained over the past 15 years.  This strong network facilitates professional placements and volunteer activities, guest speakers, site visits and career development opportunities for students. Our student’s qualifications are recognised by overseas universities for local or international studies, by professional bodies for continuing professional development and accredited by the Hong Kong Coach Education Committee.
