These programmes of study prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills required, and provide routes to a choice of academic award.
Flexible pathways to a degree
Flexible pathways have been designed to assist our students to achieve academic awards at their chosen level of study. This may be through full-time or part-time studies, face-to-face teaching, blended learning and work based learning programmes. A variety of options are provided so that students can study modules or complete programmes that best suit their interest and the time that they are available for study.
Professional development
Leisure is one of the fastest growing industries in Hong Kong and it provides opportunities for individuals to build exciting and challenging careers. Opportunities for professional development in the field of recreation, sports and exercise are wide-ranging and flourishing, and the need for high-quality staff with qualifications and experience is increasing in a more sophisticated work environment. Developments in the provision and consumption of leisure services are substantial and the numerous agencies in the industry requiring personnel from supervisory level to senior management grade include community organisations, clubs, hotels, fitness centres, tourism, voluntary groups, schools, sports associations, spa’s and commercial companies. Provision for recreation and sport has boomed with government agencies, non-governmental organisations and the commercial sector are all major contributors to this rapid expansion of services and facilities for people of all abilities and backgrounds.
International recognition
The programmes have been well received by the industry both locally and internationally due to the network that the School has with employers, professional bodies and reputable overseas universities sustained over the past 15 years. This strong network facilitates professional placements and volunteer activities, guest speakers, site visits and career development opportunities for students. Our student’s qualifications are recognised by overseas universities for local or international studies and graduates can apply for membership of City and Guilds (UK), Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (UK) and the Hong Kong Recreation Management Association (HK).
