These courses are open to all who are interested in English literature or literary studies. For students who are preparing themselves for internationally-recognised programmes in English / English literature, participation in these short courses offers them exposures to the aesthetics of literature, nurtures their literary sentiment, and stimulates their criticism on literary works and other genres. A series of short literary courses which are open to all but they will be of particular interest to part-time students who need more exposure and input to English Literature. This course aims to introduce some of the rudiments of feminist literary theory, its development, and application to criticism. To facilitate discussion of the theories by various feminists and thinkers, relevant literary texts will be studied and examined with a focus on their impact and legacy. By exploring literary and film texts, this course aims to examine the application of psychoanalytic theory in the representation of sexuality in culture. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the Bible as a literary work, as well as a collection of books written in different genres.
