江紹祥教授

Prof. Kong currently is Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT); and Director of Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC), the Education University of Hong Kong. Prof. Kong holds a doctorate from the Department of Computer Science of the City University of Hong Kong. Prof. Kong has produced over 100 academic publications in the areas of IT in mathematics education and pedagogy in the digital classroom, information literacy education, and IT in science and inquiry-based learning. He has completed/conducted 71 research projects since joining the University (the then Hong Kong Institute of Education). Prof. Kong is at present serving as the Past-President of the Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE), following his capacities as the President-Elect (2012-2013) and the President (2014-2015) in APSCE. He currently is also serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Research and Practice in Technology Enhanced Learning (RPTEL) and Journal of Computers in Education (JCE). Prof. Kong was also the Convener of Theory and Practice of Pedagogical Design for Learning in Digital Classrooms International Research Network (IRN) under World Educational Research Association (WERA) from December 2012 to December 2015. He is now member of the Assessment and Monitoring Sub-committee of the Quality Education Fund (QEF) of the HKSAR.

Ricky Kwok is Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), assisting the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) in various T&L endeavors related to e-learning (e.g., MOOCs, learning management systems, big data in e-learning). He leads the Technology-Enriched Learning Initiative (TELI), a team of e-learning technologists, instructional designers, multimedia professionals, researchers and collaboration coordinators who use technology as a tool to build genuine partnership with stakeholders in teaching and (e-)learning. Ricky is also a Professor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is a Fellow of the HKIE, the IEEE, and the IET. Apart from e-learning related design and development work, his recent research endeavors are mainly related to machine learning systems and applications.

劉應機博士

Henry Lau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. Henry graduated from the University of Oxford with a bachelor degree in Engineering Science and a DPhil in Robotics. Prior to joining The University of Hong Kong, he worked in industry as a Systems Engineer and Section Manager at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and AEA Technology plc. tackling projects involving bespoke tele-robotics systems and advanced automation systems for the nuclear industry in decommissioning and waste management. While working in England, Henry was a Croucher Foundation Research Fellow at the University of Oxford Robotics Research Group, and a visiting lecturer at Brasenose College, Oxford teaching Engineering Science. Henry’s research interest includes virtual reality technology, artificial intelligence and robotics. Henry is also the Warden of University Hall at HKU.

BACKGROUND

The Conference on E-Learning and Technology in Hong Kong and Asia (CETHA) 2017 will be held in the coming November. The conference aims to explore the use of technology, and to examine the most updated pedagogical issues and technologies of e-learning. The event provides a golden opportunity for teachers and educators to share their ideas and experiences of using technology and e-learning in education and pedagogy.

There are panel session that will discuss the Use of Technology in Education, including paper presentation and workshops hosted by fellow colleagues and industry experts. The CETHA 2017 serves as a useful platform for colleagues to acquire new insights on e-learning and applications in teaching plans. We also welcome your paper submission for sharing your insights, cases and experience in e-learning.

There are workshops hosted by Apple Education Team, Beets Limited, Unity 3D and JOS HK.
