Citation delivered by Professor LIU Ning-rong, Deputy Director (Business and China)

Dr Peter WONG King-keung is a HKU graduate and professional engineer. He has long experience in business in Mainland China and has given signal public service, e.g. in the Town Planning Board and many other public bodies. He has an extensive record in higher education, being a founder of the University of East Asia, later the University of Macau, which also involved a distance learning operation which indirectly influenced the development of Hong Kong’s Open Learning Institute, later the Open University of Hong Kong.

He has continued this service with HKU SPACE where he has served with distinction as a Board member and chaired the Planning and Development Committee for some seven years. He has also provided sound advice and guidance for the School’s programmes in Mainland China. In addition, he is a member of the Community College Advisory Council. He has also recently joined the University Council and sits on the Centennial College Board of Governors and Council. All in all he has contributed significantly to lifelong learning in Hong Kong.
