Performance Management and Internal Controls

This module is tailored for non-financial executives as an introduction to the concepts of cost analysis for management decisions. Topics include budget for control, standard costing and variance analysis using flexible budgets for material, labour and overhead, sales analysis using quantity, mix and volume analysis. Understanding basic concept of internal control and auditing. Upon completion of this module, students will be able to understand the internal control of business and the auditors’ requirements.

此課程為非財務行政人員介紹如何以成本分析作為管理決策的概念。課程將使用案例研究，主要議題包括預算控制，標準成本法和分差分析，生產預算材料，勞動力和開銷，銷售分析，使用數量，結構和體積分析，以及內部控制和審計的基本概念。完成此課程後，學生將能夠理解企業內部控制的業務及核數師要求。

Assessment method: In Class Exercise : One individual assignment

A Statement of Achievement will be issued to students who have achieved 70% of class attendance and achieved a passing grade in the overall assessment.

Tutor: Ms Teresa Wong is a Programme Director in HKU SPACE. She mainly focuses on programme development and external relationship with different professional bodies. She also has over 10 years of teaching experience in accounting, finance and marketing courses in various local tertiary institutions. Prior to joining the education field, she was the Senior Sales & Marketing Manager in asset management companies. She was responsible for recruitment planning, marketing planning as well as training new staff.  Ms. Teresa Wong has over 16 years of experience in project management, business operation, delivering training and training programme development. On the Community service aspects, she is the judge of the Best Financial Planner Award (BFPA) for the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong.

Applicants shall hold:

• bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized University or equivalent; or
• an Associate Degree/a Higher Diploma or equivalent, and have at least 2 years of work experience; or 
• a recognized professional qualification.

Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior level work experience will be considered on individual merits.
