How to Apply

The course aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills how to discuss sensitive political content in classroom, and the key role of teachers to guide such discussions with students with balance, tolerance and respect.

The role of teachers is discussed in this short course, focusing on how we can deliver a balanced lecture with sensitive political content. The role of teachers is ideally to present different perspectives on a topic, guiding students to think analytically and critically, and to encourage a diversity of views with tolerance. Yet, a teacher’s role is arguably different from a political participant, who may have views and who engage in actions that have the unintended consequence of changing the proper role of teacher. In the world of political sensitivities, the multidimensional role of a teacher will be explored and examined in this course.
