HKU SPACE is pleased to honour Mr Tony Kwok for his contributions to the community of Hong Kong for his service as Deputy Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption where he served with distinction. He also brought his experience to bear in the pioneering course for the HKU SPACE Postgraduate Certificate in Corruption Studies which has now been running for some 14 years and attracts annually an audience almost entirely from overseas. The Postgraduate Certificate has therefore become a flagship of the School. It is unique in that it provides an intensive 3-week experience for international students who come to Hong Kong to learn at the cutting edge of anti-corruption studies. This helps to foster an international network amongst practitioners in the area and gives HKU SPACE a global reach in terms of the countries covered by participants.
Tony Kwok has been the Course Director and moving force behind the development of the course it is therefore appropriate for the School to honour him as one of the first recipients of the HKU SPACE Honorary Fellowship. He has put together a team with vast experience in anti-corruption which also involves many of the related services in Hong Kong, including ICAC, the Police, Immigration, Correctional Services and the Monetary Authority. This draws on their experience for class visits which enrich the course curriculum, such that this is very much an iconic course for HKU and HKU SPACE. |
