This 30-hour course helps business people who need to speak English for their work.  The course is different from traditional spoken English language courses.  Students will be asked to perform speaking tasks in English without preliminary controlled practice activities.  In this way, the communicative needs of the individual students determine the content of the course.

Modern Business Writing Skills is one of the two compulsory modules leading to the HKU SPACE Certificate in Business English award.  The module covers:
· effective written communication: Style, tone, image and impact;
· internal communication: Email, memos and minutes; and
· external communication: Job applications, enquiries, complaints and their replies.

Active Grammar 2 develops your language at a higher level than Active Grammar 1, and builds on and enhances the skills learned there.  However, as long as you meet the entry requirements, you can gain direct entry into Active Grammar 2 without doing Active Grammar 1.
