HKU SPACE is one of the leading  local providers of part-time legal education, and offers a wide range of courses for those interested in switching to a legal career or simply learning more about the law. 
 
We provide courses at every level from the open entry Certificate in Legal Studies (which is open to all and offers an easier route to start studying law) through to preparation courses for world-renowned LL.B. law degrees, as well as an affordable postgraduate pathway towards legal practice.
 
Most courses are part-time, with classes in the evening and weekends, allowing you to continue working while you study. Demand is extremely high, with some courses full many months before they start. Every year, we have to turn away many disappointed applicants and early enrolment is highly recommended.

PCLL Entry Eligibility

To attain the entry eligibility of the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL), candidates will have to demonstrate competence in 11 Core Subjects: Contract; Tort; Constitutional Law; Criminal Law; Land Law; Equity; Civil Procedure; Criminal Procedure; Evidence; Business Associations and Commercial Law.

Candidates who hold non-local law qualifications that are acceptable for the purpose of PCLL programme must also demonstrate competence in the following three Top-up Subjects: Hong Kong Constitutional Law; Hong Kong Legal System; Hong Kong Land Law.

This one year top-programme allows students who have passed the C.P.E. exams to quickly obtain a Bachelor of Laws awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University. The course is particularly valuable for anyone thinking of applying for the P.C.LL. vocational training course, since it allows you to complete all the remaining law subjects for P.C.LL. entry that are not covered on the C.P.E./Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law. The course will also be of interest to others seeking to further their legal knowledge or obtain a law degree.

Please check here regularly for updates on when enrollment will open for the  C.P.E./Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law, which offers a unique—and affordable—route towards legal practice in both Hong Kong and England & Wales. For more than 25 years, the programme has been one of the most popular pathways for degree holders in other disciplines to switch to a legal career, with many graduates now working as successful solicitors, barristers and, in some cases, even judges. Course fees are much lower than on many other part-time programmes for students seeking a pathway to legal practice.

This new and highly flexible top-up Masters programme is unique in Hong Kong and is designed for solicitors who have been awarded either the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PDLP) and have at least one year’s post admission experience.  It is offered by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in collaboration with HKU SPACE.

Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:

- identify key legal issues affecting banking and commercial practices in Hong Kong;
- gain an updated knowledge on commercial law in Hong Kong and Mainland China; and
- design and implement legal risk management plans to combat commercial crimes and money laundering activities
