As the FIRST TOP-UP degree programme combining Management Studies with Applied Psychology in Hong Kong, the BA Business Management with Applied Psychology focuses on business management and the applied aspects of personality psychology. It is designed to provide a wider understanding of the domestic and international business environments, and it teaches how psychology analyzes the similarities and differences of how people think, feel and behave. Students are then expected to gain an understanding of global business combined with an awareness of the psychological factors influencing the individual and the workplace.

BA Business Management with Applied Psychology

The BA Business Management with Applied Psychology programme is a one-year top-up degree programme designed to provide a wider understanding of the Hong Kong and international business environments. Students will gain an understanding of global business combined with an awareness of psychology factors influencing the individual and the workplace. Graduates possessing an understanding of these complementary areas will be well placed to enter the employment market or continue with their studies at the postgraduate level.

The programme aims to

  • Provide a coherent and vocationally relevant academic curriculum designed to equip students either for a career or future study in business and management;
  • Develop students’ understanding of the theories and concepts of business and management, and the competences to apply them in practical business situations;
  • Provide a challenging learning programme that develops critical, analytical, creative and reflective approaches to business and its environment;
  • Develop students’ personal and professional, lifelong learning and leadership skills to enable them to respond positively to future change within the business world;
  • Provide the opportunity to develop students’ specialist knowledge and understanding consistent with the award in BA Business Management with Applied Psychology.
Further Studies

Edinburgh Napier University qualifications are well-recognised internationally. Graduates of this programme may pursue further studies in business management, managerial leadership, international management and managerial psychology disciplines at postgraduate or master levels.

This is an exempted course under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize any qualification to which this course may lead.

Applicants shall hold:

(a) a Higher Diploma in Business (Management and Psychology) awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE; or

(b) an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a business related discipline awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE; or

(c) an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a business related discipline awarded by a recognized institution; or

(d) other equivalent qualifications

Applicants holding qualifications other than (a) and without recognized post-secondary psychology studies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  They may be required to take and pass a psychology bridging course before the start of the programme, and the fee of the bridging course is to be confirmed.

Enrolment Method

Applicants are required to complete the application form and submit together with the following fees and doucments to any of our enrolment counters.  Details of enrolment counters can be found in the HKU SPACE website:

- Copy of HKID Card/Student Visa

- An application processing fee of HK$200(non-refundable).   Fees paid by crossed cheque or bank draft should be made payable to "HKU SPACE".

- Educational qualifications (e.g. HKCEE/HKALE Certificate, Diploma Certificate) with transcripts showing details of results obtained.  Please note that these documents must be "Certified True Copies".  Applicants who submit their application at the enrolment counters may have copies of their academic transcripts certified by HKU SPACE free of charge.  Please bring originals for verification.

Payment Method

Course fees can be paid by cash or EPS at any HKU SPACE enrolment counters.


Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify theprogramme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.

Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or MasterCard, including the “HKU SPACE MasterCard”, at anyHKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE MasterCard can enjoy a 10-month interest-freeinstalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.


  1. For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, Visa or MasterCard if the course is to start shortly.

  2. Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, cheque or PPS (for online payment only) will normally be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will normally be reimbursed to the payment cardholder’s credit card account.

  3. In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme team for details.
  4. Fees and places on courses cannot be transferred from one applicant to another. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on approved transfers.
  5. Receipts will be issued for fees paid but HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of receipt sent by mail.
  6. For additional copies of receipts, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with a completed form and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to ‘HKU SPACE’. Such copies will only normally be issued at the end of a course.
