This programme is for people who are currently delivering fitness and exercise programmes or related services to the community who aim to develop their academic and work-based skills to enhance career development.

BSc (Hons) in Work Based Learning Studies (Fitness and Exercise Studies)

We offer this programme with Middlesex University for people who will be or are currently delivering fitness and exercise programmes, and related services to the community in a variety of settings.

The programme has 2 parts:

  1. The HKU SPACE Advanced Diploma in Fitness and Exercise Studies or equivalent, worth 180 MU credits should be completed first.
  2. Then 2 years of part-time study for a further 180 credits, leading to a BSc (Hons) award.

Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance

This is an exempted course under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize any qualification to which this course may lead.

Modules are student-centered and require independent study, with the aid of resource packs and online tutorials.  Each 12-week semester will include seminars, tutorials and workshop sessions.

(a) Applicants shall hold the Advanced Diploma in Fitness and Exercise Studies awarded within the HKU System through HKU SPACE, or equivalent, as decided by the Accreditation of Prior Learning Committee of Middlesex University; and

(b) Have proficiency in English normally evidenced by a pass in IELTS at 6.0 or equivalent; and 

(c) Have a minimum of 2 years of working experience (paid or non-paid) in a related industry.

An Interview and/or English test may be required.

The programme offers candidates the opportunity to continue their academic development in the field of Fitness and Exercise Studies.

1. Successful completors of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Work Based Learning Studies (Fitness and Exercise) may be considered for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Recreation Management offered by HKU SPACE that leads to the MSc International Sport Management offered by the University of Northumbria.

A crossed payable cheque of HK$86,500 is made payable to the "Middlesex Services Ltd" over 4 installments.
