Graduate Diploma of Information Studies (GDIS) is the Intermediate Exit Award of Master of Information Studies. It provides students with in-depth understanding of the contemporary information environment and competencies for performing in a variety of information sectors.

This distance learning programme, offered in collaboration with Charles Sturt University, is supplemented by local tutorials. The obtained qualification has full recognition by Australian Library and Information Association.

Students having Bachelor's degree in non-library discipline choosing to exit with GDIS need to complete seven core subjects and two practical subjects.

Diploma in Teacher Librarianship holders will receive special credit exemption.

As we approach the second decade of the 21st century, our society places an ever-growing demand on professionals to operate in a digital and information management environment and to possess advanced subject knowledge in different industries. The changing nature of society has brought a growing demand for knowledge and information at work, in education and in daily life. Librarians, information managers, archivists, knowledge managers and many other information professionals are meeting that demand by providing effective access to information resources and services.

Upon successful completion of Graduate Diploma of Information Studies (Intermediate Award of Master of Information Studies), students will receive the CSU Graduate Diploma of Information Studies, and the Diploma in Librarianship jointly awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE.
