To deeply understand the success of Israel “Silicon Valley of the Middle East”, also known as the “Startup Nation”, HKU SPACE Executive Academy (SEA) has incorporated with The Hebrew University to organise the “Innovative Entrepreneurship Programme”.

Through a series of lecture, corporate visits and cultural tour, aim at promoting participants’ understanding how does Israel being successful in innovative and startup business with the supports from their cultural, history and religion.

In addition, the tour will visit renowned global enterprises and chambers for business matching for promoting the “One Belt One Road” business opportunity.

Programme Structure

  • Attend the “Innovative Entrepreneurship Programme” organised by the Hebrew University to discover how Israel became the “Startup Nation.”
  • Visit renowned enterprises such as AtoBe, MESH, Mobileye, Siftech, JVP, MVP and Netafim, etc to meet their senior management to understand the innovative business ecosystem of Israel.
  • Visit Israel chambers for business mission and matching.
  • Cultural tour in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Jaffa etc.

“Innovative Entrepreneurial Programme” by Hebrew University 


After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, participants will go to the Hebrew University for the “Innovative Entrepreneurship Programme”. The programme aims to:
- Discover how Israel became the “Startup Nation”, by understanding the social, cultural, political, and economic factors that created it.
- Get deep and rare exposure to the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Israel, analysing each variation: from early-stage startups, through incubators and VC funds, to multinational companies.
- Learn various strategies to drive innovation and creativity from the perspective of both the entrepreneur and the investor.

An overview of Israel’s ecosystem and the historical and cultural factors that created this unique, thriving environment; Famous innovative Israeli companies, well-known inventions from Israel, scientific facts supporting Israel’s success in innovation; Michael Porter’s Diamond Model” and its application to the Israeli innovative ecosystem; The role of the government as a provider of financial support; The Hebrew University’s Business School’s approach: creating tomorrow’s creators

Day 3

Tel Aviv Heritage Cultural Tour
After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, participants will go to Tel Aviv for the Heritage Cultural Tour. Drive around the main streets of Tel Aviv, center of business and entertainment of Israel, also known as the "White City" and declared by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site. Continue to Old Jaffa, an 8000-year-Old Port City; Visit the ancient ruins and walk along the restored artists' quarter. Visit Neve Tzedek, the first neighbourhood of Tel Aviv, built in 1887 and Nahalat Benyamin.

“Innovative Entrepreneurial Programme” by Hebrew University 
After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, participants will go to the corporate visit1, arranged by the Hebrew University.
Programme Content
  1. Lecture: Innovative Funding
    New innovative ways for entrepreneurs and venture capital firms to raise funds and investments. This lecture will be focusing on the most emerging and innovative segments in Entrepreneurial Finance.

  • Associate Professor of Fiance (with tenure) at the Department of Finance, School of Business Administration, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
  • Visiting Associate Professor at NYU Shanghai and Stern School of Business, NYU

  1. Presentation of certificates and photo shooting
  2. End of the programme, participants will be transferred back to the hotel or in the city.

Business Mission and Matching Tour
  • After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, participants will take the coach to the Federation of Israeli Chamber of Commerce or Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce etc2 for business matching.
  • Participants will be transferred back to the hotel or in the city.
Day 6
17 Nov
Coach service to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport
  1. After enjoying breakfast in the hotel, participants will proceed check-out and go to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport. (In connection with Cathy Pacific Airways CX676). The tour comes to an end.


Participants who completed this tour will award the certificates of attendance by Hebrew University and HKU SPACE. 

Corporate Visits

The “Innovative Entrepreneurial Programme” by Hebrew University will arrange following corporate visits to the participants:
1. Siftech
Siftech, Jerusalem’s pioneer and largest accelerator, was founded in early 2012 as grassroots initiative of the Hebrew University Students Union, led by two extraordinary women, Stav Erez and Inbar Ziv. Siftech started out as a community catalyst, organising events and initiating projects aimed at driving entrepreneurial activity. Six months later, Siftech launched the first startup accelerator in the city. As the nerve centre of Jerusalem’s rapidly growing startup scene, Siftech grows and supports local entrepreneurial talent, providing the platforms, mentorship and business opportunities for ventures to succeed.
2. Mobileye
Mobileye is a NASDAQ listed company (biggest Israeli IPO), doing business worldwide, currently developing the autonomous car. Mobileye is a technological leader in the area of software algorithms, system-on-chips and customer applications that are based on processing visual information for the market of driver assistance systems (DAS). Mobileye’s technology keeps passengers safer on the roads, potential to revolutionise the driving experience by enabling autonomous driving. Mobileye was cofounded by Hebrew- University researcher Prof. Amnon Shashua, who now serves as its CTO, with the assistance of Yissum, the Tech-Transfer company of the Hebrew University.
3. Jerusalem Venture Partners
The foundations for Jerusalem Venture Partner’s (JVP) track record derive from the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit, experienced team, and agile investment strategy. Established in 1993 by Erel Margalit, JVP now has over $900 million under management. The majority of the Fund's activities are led out of its International Media Quarter in Jerusalem with industry advisors in New York and Paris as well as an international network of strategic partners.
4. AtoBe
AtoBe is an Azrieli College of Engineering Startups Accelerator. AtoBe provide the eco-system for technological entrepreneurship as well as guidance, knowledge, and support in bringing idea from conception to a real thriving business. Additionally, AtoBe provide the physical space. The Accelerator will cultivate entrepreneurs, providing the training and tools to facilitate innovation by connecting technological know-how with the entrepreneurial spirit, thus connecting the dots in the process to propel entrepreneurs forward, bringing their ideas to actual fruition. The only accelerator in Jerusalem which focuses solely on technology.
5. Magma Venture Partners
​Magma Venture Partners is a leading Israeli venture capital firm, dedicated to investing in Israel's Information, Communications and Technology space ('ICT'), including the software, semiconductor and new media spheres. They seek bright ideas at their earliest stages, and serve as a springboard for our entrepreneurs as they develop and evolve into industry leaders. Their goal is to enable a flow of innovation from the earliest stage all the way through until a company realises its potential reach.
6. Netafim
Netafim is the world leader in drip irrigation systems and agricultural projects. Since 1965 Netafim has been a pioneer in drippers, dripper lines, sprinklers and micro-emitters. Netafim also manufactures and distributes crop management technologies, including monitoring and control systems, dosing systems, and crop management software.
1   Hebrew University is responsible for arranging about two corporate visits during the tour and the schedule is subject to final approval. The confirmed schedule will be released in the briefing session.
2   The school is coordinating with 1-2 business matching, and it is subject to final confirmation. If the school cannot arrange business matching, the travel agency will arrange city tour as an alternative.

Enrolment Method

We provide online application and payment service for students to make enrolment via the Internet. Enrolment will be confirmed once students have made the payment online by using either PPS or credit card.

Payment Method
1. Cash or EPS

Course fees can be paid by cash or EPS at any HKU SPACE enrolment counters.

2. Cheque or bank draft

Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify theprogramme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.
3. VISA/MasterCard

Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or MasterCard, including the “HKU SPACE MasterCard”, at anyHKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE MasterCard can enjoy a 10-month interest-freeinstalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.

4. Online payment

The course fees of all open admission courses (course enrolled on first come, first served basis) and selected award-bearing programmes can be settled by using PPS via the Internet. Applicants may also pay the relevant course fees by VISA or MasterCard online. Please refer to the Online Services page on the School website.


  1. For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, Visa or MasterCard if the course is to start shortly.

  2. Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, cheque or PPS (for online payment only) will normally be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will normally be reimbursed to the payment cardholder’s credit card account.

  3. In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme team for details.
  4. Fees and places on courses cannot be transferred from one applicant to another. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on approved transfers.
  5. Receipts will be issued for fees paid but HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of receipt sent by mail.
  6. For additional copies of receipts, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with a completed form and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to ‘HKU SPACE’. Such copies will only normally be issued at the end of a course.
