This programme aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the business environment in different industries and to equip graduates with basic managerial skills, enabling them to explore new business opportunities and make sensible decisions about specialised business issues.  Three specialism streams are offered: (1) Global Supply Chain Management, (2) Entrepreneurship and (3) International Management.

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the business environment in different business industries.  It also aims to equip graduates with basic managerial skills, enabling them to explore new business opportunities and make sensible decisions about specialized business issues.

On completion of the programme, students should be able to: 



Global Supply Chain Management

  • analyse the factors involved in the management of international trade, procurement, logistics and supply chain.
  • apply the principles of Marine Insurance Law and Admiralty Law via the legal concepts used and the legal issues arising.


  • apply essential skills in business management to manage enterprises and new ventures.
  • apply financial skills in management planning for decision-making of new ventures and enterprises.


  • compare and apply effectively different management styles and techniques in different business and management context.
  • analyse the strategic managerial issues in international business context.


Target Student Groups

This programme targets at (i) candidates who endeavour to develop their careers in specialized areas, and (ii) business managers, working in relevant industrial fields, who want to develop strategic management perspectives, individual innovative styles and enterprising approaches that assist them to take effective roles within the organisations.

Global Supply Chain Management

The Global Supply Chain Management stream targets at candidates who desire to develop their careers in supply chain management, logistics management, international trade, and related areas.


The Entrepreneurship stream offers education to people who have an interest in starting up a new business or developing a new product line for their employers. They may come from private or public, business or social sectors.


The International Management stream accepts holders of Bachelor degrees in any disciplines, who have a desire to pursue a higher qualification. The stream offers education especially suitable for people who are working at management level in international companies.


Articulation and module exemption to MSc Business Management (Leadership and Innovation), Edinburgh Napier University, UK

Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Business programme will be granted exemption of five modules, "Leadership, Strategy and Innovation", "Global Economic Environment and Marketing", "Organisational Change and Management", "Leadership Learning and Development" and "Sustaining Organisational Perforance" (20 credits each module).

Articulation and credits exemption to MBA Top-up Degree, Plymouth University, UK

Graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Business programme will be granted credits exemption.  Students will receive a Master of Business Administration degree upon successful completion of a 15000-word dissertation.

Exemption up to one core module will be granted to students with relevant prior learning.  

Programme Structure

This programme consists of six modules (four cores and two specialisms). Each module comprises 20 credits and 54 lecture hours.  Completion of four core modules and two specialism modules will lead to a Postgraduate Diploma award detailed below:

# Common Modules
^ Students who have completed four core modules [(1) - (4)] and do not intend to continue the study of two specialism modules [(5) - (6)] will be given the exit award of Postgraduate Certificate in Business.



Assessment will be based on a combination of coursework (50%) and a final examination (50%) except for the module “Research and Information Management” (100% coursework), “Opportunities for Enterprise” and “Finance and Law for Startups” (combination of coursework and in-class test ). 

The attendance requirement of each module is 70%. 


1. How many modules will be offered in each semester?
Normally, 2 modules will be offered in each semester.

2. What types of assessment will there be for each module?
There will be continuous assessment in the form of written assignments (50%-100%) and/or examination (0-50%).

3. What is the tuition fee of this programme?
The tuition fee is HK$51,000 by three installments.

4. Will I be admitted to the programme if I do not possess the minimum years of working experience?
Applicants with other qualification and credentials will be considered on individual merit.

5. Will there be exemption to the master level course if I have completed this programme?
Graduate of Postgraduate Diploma in Business can further pursue the the Master of Science in Business Management (Leadership and Innovation) programme offered by the Edinburgh Napier University, UK with five modules exemption (20 credits each module), and
the Master in Business Administration (Top-up) degree programme offered by the Plymouth University, UK, via distance learning upon completion a dissertation of around 15,000 words.

6. Do I have to attend all classes?
You are strongly encouraged to attend all classes, as we believe interaction with teacher and classmates is highly effective means of learning.

7. Can I change my study of stream while I am studying the programme?
Yes. You may change your study of stream to meet your study interest and career needs.

Applicants shall

(i)        hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized institution; AND
(ii)       have three years of full-time work experience in related industries.


(i)        hold equivalent professional qualification(s) in a relevant discipline; AND
(ii)       have five years of full-time work experience at senior managerial level in related industries.

If the degree or equivalent qualification is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English, applicants shall provide evidence of English proficiency, such as:

(1)      an overall band of 6.0 or above with no subtests lower than 5.5 in the IELTS: or
(2)      a score of 550 or above in the paper-based TOEFL, or a score of 213 or above in the computer-based TOEFL, or  a score of 80 or above in the internet-based TOEFL; or
(3)      HKALE Use of English at Grade E or above; or
(4)      HKDSE Examination English Language at Level 3 or above; or
(5)      equivalent qualifications.

Applicants with other qualifications and credentials will be considered on individual merit.

Enrolment Method

Completed application forms should be submitted in person to HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.
Applications must be accompanied by:

  1. A non-refundable HK$200 application fee (cheque should be crossed and made payable to “HKU SPACE”)
  2. Photostat copies of Hong Kong Identity Card
  3. Photocopy of all relevant educational qualifications
  4. Photocopy of proof of full-time work experience
  5. Original certificates and transcripts of relevant qualifications, which are needed for certification by HKU SPACE
  6. One passport photograph


Payment Method


Course fees can be paid by cash or EPS at any HKU SPACE enrolment counters.


Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify theprogramme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.

Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or MasterCard, including the “HKU SPACE MasterCard”, at anyHKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE MasterCard can enjoy a 10-month interest-freeinstalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.

  1. Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, cheque or PPS (for online payment only) will normally be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will normally be reimbursed to the payment cardholder’s credit card account.
  2. In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme team for details.
  3. Fees and places on courses cannot be transferred from one applicant to another. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on approved transfers.
  4. Receipts will be issued for fees paid but HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of receipt sent by mail.
  5. ​For additional copies of receipts, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with a completed form and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to ‘HKU SPACE’. Such copies will only normally be issued at the end of a course.
