The programme aims to enhance the ability of students’ in comprehension and to apply knowledge in dealing with project management practices.  Moreover, it also provides students with a balanced academic and professional training in managing property development and building construction processes. 

In order to achieve successful construction projects, a Project Manager employs specialized tools and techniques to manage schedule, budget, quality and other parameters. This Professional Diploma programme is suited for those people who want to start or sharpen their career in construction project management.

The Professional Diploma programme is a part-time study programme of around 16 months in duration.

Stage 1

Two Compulsory Modules:

  • Contract Strategy and Project Procurement
  • Project Management Practice

Assessment of all modules except Individual Project Work, is based on coursework and written examinations. Students will be eligible to take the written examinations if they meet a 70% attendance requirement for each module. Assessment of Individual Project Work is based on a 5,000 word project and a oral presentation.

 
Exit Point

Advanced Certificate in Construction Project Management (Intermediate Award)

Students shall complete two compulsory modules and two optional modules, i.e. a total of four modules, and satisfy the examiners in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the programme.

Professional Diploma in Construction Project Management

Students shall complete two compulsory modules, five optional modules and Individual Project Work, i.e. a total of eight modules, and satisfy the examiners in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the programme.

 

Duration
  • 2 evenings a week, with occasional weekend workshops.
    16 months, part-time (4 Trimesters)

Applicants should:

  1. Hold an Advanced Certificate or equivalent qualification in a construction discipline (e.g. building studies, building surveying, quantity surveying, engineering, interior design) awarded by a recognised educational institution; or
  2. i) Be aged at least 23 years with 3 years relevant work experience; and
    ii) have gained in the HKCEE Grade E (Syllabus B) or Level 2 in English Language or HKDSE Examination Level 2 in English Language.

Applicants may be required to take a written test and/or attend an interview as appropriate. Students may need to attend a chargeable compulsory English Enhancement Course subject to the discretion of the Admission Committee.
