Celebrating the School’s 60th anniversary
Gala dinner shows the spirit of “One SPACE, One Family”
The 60th anniversary gala dinner was held by HKU SPACE at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 10 September 2017. Nearly 800 guests including teachers, students and alumni gathered for the celebration.
Joining the event were HKU Chancellor Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Pro-Chancellor Dr David Kwok-po Li, Chairman of the HKU Council Professor Arthur Kwok-cheung Li, HKU Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Mathieson, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKU SPACE Dr Darwin Chen, three former Directors Professor Lee Ngok, Professor Enoch Chien-ming Young, Professor Chack-fan Lee and dozens of overseas and local guests to attend.
The event started with a drum performance by Professor William K. M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and a group of alumni and students. After the performances, Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Dr David Kwok-po Li and Professor Edward K. Y. Chen gave opening presentations.
Professor Edward K. Y. Chen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKU SPACE, thanked the supporters from all sectors of the community, and the past scholars who had contributed to the development of the School. He said, “The School will continue to answer society’s needs by offering pioneering courses, aimed at supporting lifelong learning for the public and broadening their professional space”.
After completing the switch-on ceremony, our Board of Director Mr Sunny Yeung and The Chung Brothers, our tutors, played two songs. Later on, two School alumni, Ms On-yee Ng and Mr Chiu-ying Lam, shared their experiences of studying at HKU SPACE.
A certificate presentation ceremony was held to thank diamond jubilee patrons for their support, since the donations would be contributed to the 60th anniversary fund. Afterwards, students from HKU SPACE Community College performed a rock dance for the audience. Finally, all guests were invited to take photos together. 學院60週年晚宴
體現One SPACE One Family精神
香港大學專業進修學院60週年晚宴今天(9月10日)假香港香港會議展覽中心舉行，近800名嘉賓和師生校友聚首一堂，分享盛事。
學院邀請到香港大學校監林鄭月娥女士、副校監李國寶博士、校務委員會主席李國章教授、校長馬裴森教授、前學院董事局主席陳達文博士、三位前學院院長李鍔教授、楊健明教授、李焯芬教授，以及數十名海內外嘉賓出席盛宴。
學院院長李經文教授與一眾校友及學生以鼓聲會友，為整晚活動揭開序幕。大會亦得蒙林鄭月娥女士、李國寶教授及陳坤耀教授為大家致勉辭。
學院董事局主席陳坤耀教授致辭 時，感謝香港各界對學院，以及為學院鋪平前路的先賢們的支持。他稱，學院未來將會繼續配合社會的需求，開創具前瞻性的課程，協助大家終身學習，拓展更大的專業空間。
在亮燈儀式後，學院校友楊光先生亦夥拍學院導師鍾氏兄弟一同合奏「憑著愛」及「未種的花」，而學院校友吳安儀及林超英亦在場與大家分享在學院學習的點滴。
學院亦舉行了一個簡單而隆重的證書頒贈儀式，感謝一眾贊助人的支持，當中的捐款將會用於60週年基金。而港大附屬學院的同學，當晚亦為在場人士表演勁舞，由台下跳到台上。最後，大會邀請所有來賓一同合照，留住美好的一刻，並攜手邁向更多個60年。
