International degrees valued globally, relevant locally

HKU SPACE and the University of London International Programmes have, through their combined efforts, long offered students in Hong Kong internationally-recognised qualifications of rigorous academic standards, delivered with high quality teaching and support, with the mission to help them realise their ambitions and aspirations.

The collaboration between the two world class institutions can be traced back to 1956 when HKU SPACE was still the Department of Extra Mural Studies (DEMS) under The University of Hong Kong offering preparatory law courses for local students. The unit was later renamed HKU SPACE. HKU SPACE is the first Affiliate Centre of the University of London International Programmes in Hong Kong and has also provided a local one-stop service for application and registration for admission to the University of London since 1989.

Seven programmes accredited by Hong Kong Council for
Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ)

On 19 January, HKU SPACE and the University of London International Programmes celebrated the recent inclusion of seven programmes offered through HKU SPACE on the Qualifications Register of Hong Kong.

The school hosted a cocktail reception and dinner and welcomed many prominent local figures from Government, including Secretary of Education Eddie Ng Hak-kim; Professor Fan Yiu-kwan, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ; Mr Paul Lynch, Deputy Head of Mission at British Consulate General and honourable guests from the University of London International Programmes and top management from HKU SPACE.

The seven accredited programmes are:

MBA in International Management
MSc in International Management
Postgraduate Diploma in International Management
BSc Business
BSc Management
BSc Economics and Management
Diploma in Economics

Newly accredited programmes benefit Hong Kong students

The accreditation indicates that University of London qualifications are considered equivalent to local qualifications in Hong Kong. The accreditation is particularly important for full-time students as it implies that they are eligible for financial assistance and loans from the Government and that the Government recognises the qualifications in applications for civil service posts.
