Lunchtime Talk Series – Feed your mind photo

Since December last year, HKU SPACE has been organising the Lunchtime Talk Series with a vast array of talks for working adults to learn in a more relaxed way during their lunch hours.

Well-rounded topics shared by professional speakers

The Lunchtime Talk Series has been well received by the public with topics covering stress management, positive psychology, weight management, Chinese Medicine for health care, diet for depression and Qi-Gong, etc. Speakers have included psychiatrist Dr Chen Chai-lu, veteran clinical psychologist Mrs Lu Chan Ching-chuen, as well as registered dietitians and professors from the School’s Division of Chinese Medicine. The School will continue to invite professionals from various fields to deliver talks in different areas of interest.

 
Year of the Goat Predictions in Yi Jing – By Shum Yat-fei

By reading the hexagrams, Mr Shum Yat-fei, a media and cultural veteran will interpret the fortune of Hong Kong in 2015, the Year of the Goat by referring to the descriptions of divination in the Yi Jing at a talk this March.

Wisdom of the Chinese Classics – Commencing in March
The Analects of Confucius (Lun Yu), Tao Te Ching and Yi Jing (Book of Changes) are the three most famous Chinese classics. From an all-round East-West cultural perspective, Mr Shum Yat-fei will explore with students topics ranging from a worldview, philosophy, values, and methodology of Chinese traditional classics using his ingenious way of thinking. In addition to these, the course also covers the applications of these classics in modern life and management. The course content includes the introduction of the wisdom of life from The Analects of Confucius (Lun Yu), the principle of “rule by nonaction” from Tao Te Ching, and leadership wisdom from Yi Jing (Book of Changes).
