Survey on Gender Sensitive Public Transport
During June and July 2025, in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, Professor Anthony Yeh, Department of Urban Planning and Design; Professor Dorothy Chan of the Centre and Ms. Vicky Koo of WiLAT pull together resources from 23 WiLAT chapters to respond to a questionnaire highlighting challenges women face in using public transport services. The report Gender Sensitive Public Transport Services provides insights into the difficulties encountered by women in different places. The survey recommended safety measures as well as mobile/smart app usage which could help in security enhancement.
Professor Anthony Yeh and Dr Si Qiao presented the key findings and recommendations during the WiALT Global Workshop at the International Convention of CILT in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 14 September 2025. As part of the report, they introduced the Women-Friendly Public Transport Toolkit and received support for action.
