Student's sharing - Ms Leung Yan (LLB)

I am very honoured to be awarded 1st class honours in LLB. One of the reasons for choosing this programme is that it is widely-recognized so it is bound to be conducive to my future career. Given the University of London's long history in education, I am assured of the quality of the programme. By studying locally at HKU SPACE for this international degree, I could pursue my studies without having to sacrifice time with my family as well.

To prepare for examinations, I started by building up the foundation through reading notes prepared by the lecturers and the Study Guides. Then I moved on to past examination papers drill where I could test my understanding of the various topics.

As my aspiration is to become a successful solicitor, I am currently studying for the PCLL at HKU. Obtaining the University of London LLB was definitely a milestone for me.

Last but not least, I would like to express profound gratitude to my parents, sister and friends for their support and encouragement which gave me great determination in pursuing my dream.

Student's sharing - Dr Chong Yeow Kuan (LLB)

Obtaining the Bachelor of Laws with first class honours marks the end of my three happy years at HKU SPACE and the University of London. Three years back, what I wished almost amounts to eating your cake and have it too: a good law degree, done part-time, while working full-time in a public hospital. I chose the University of London programme because it is well-recognised worldwide yet the learning arrangements are flexible to fit into my schedule; and HKU SPACE because here, I get taught by world class scholars from the UK.

To me, the key in getting good results throughout the LLB is to study algorithmically: pre-lecture reading, intensive note-taking, and extensive, but goal-directed reading, are the three tools I stick with during these years. While not aiming to pursue further vocational studies yet, the programme empowered me with the ability to think and reason like a lawyer, as well as a broad base of legal knowledge from which I can approach problems in real life.

In closing, I wish to thank all of my family members for their tolerance during my years of studies, and professors teaching at HKU SPACE for their guidance. In particular, I wish to thank Professor Catharine Macmillan and Mr Chris Riley for their inspiring lectures.

法律就是日常生活

讀書為了甚麼？求分數？為證書？為了升職加人工？HKU SPACE倫大法律系一級榮譽畢業的Jason，他的答案很簡單很純粹：為了追求知識。

回想當初，Jason在修讀MBA及法律之間舉棋不定，最後選擇了後者，亦打開了他對社會甚至生活的新視野。

兼職進修時，Jason正在頂尖歐洲銀行任職，忙碌的監管關係事務工作令他根本沒有充足時間仔細溫習，而讀得精明及保持好奇心，就是他的兩大致勝竅門。「每一個單元，我都只集中熟讀6至8個熱門和自己感興趣的課題，嘗試應用於真實生活例子，讓自己一直充滿好奇心，到考試我已有充足信心可以及格。」

另外非常自律的Jason也自訂了一個學習計畫，能讓他記住海量的知識來應付考試，一步步走近目標。正如他母校的拉丁語格言：quantum potes, tantum audes，意思是dare to do your best ，敢於做到最好！

畢業後，Jason沒有繼續修讀法學專業證書課程（PCLL）做律師。有人可能會覺得可惜，但他深深明白，學習法律的意義遠高於此。我們在日常生活中，例如工作、看新聞甚至購物時，其實都可以體驗到法律精神與思維。

法律不是一條條書本上的冰冷法例條文，而是存在於你我的生活體驗之中。

「法律學位遠超於一個學位，因為法律知識和從中學到的技能會令我畢生受用。」能夠多一個角度思考，他知道自己在HKU SPACE得到的，並不只是一張證書。
