Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law
 

HKU SPACE is a University of London Recognised Teaching Centre in Hong Kong offering preparation courses for its LLB and the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law programmes. 

The University of London Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law programme is designed for students who wish to gain knowledge in aspects relevant to English commercial law and practice, but do not wish to register for the full LLB degree.  The Graduate Diploma is a qualification in its own right and one of the University of London undergraduate programmes in law.  Academic direction for these programme is provided by six University of London Colleges with Law Schools or Departments, collectively known as the Laws Consortium.  The six Colleges are: Birkbeck, King’s College London, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Queen Mary, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and University College London (UCL).   For more information on the University of London visit: https://london.ac.uk/   

HKU SPACE offers a package of preparation courses at a favourable fee for the University of London Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law students intending to take examinations in the following modules:

UNIVERSITY OF LONDON REGISTRATIONS

 Students who wish to take the Graduate Diploma in Law examinations must register as overseas students with University of London and then register for the specific examinations in good time.  New registration for all University of London are processed in Hong Kong by HKU SPACE. Separate registration and examination entry fees are payable to University of London and to the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA).

Enroling HKU SPACE Preparation Courses 

HKU SPACE have been providing Preparation Courses designed for students taking University of London law exams for more than five decades.  Preparation Courses are open to the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law students and are offered on a "first-come-first-served" basis.  The tuition package is made up of main and revision lectures.  There are also exam skills seminars, voluntary take-home assignments and mock exams for selected modules.  Lectures are taught mostly by leading academics and teachers from major UK law schools largely on a block basis. Attendance on the preparation courses greatly improve the chances of success in the exams.

Please note that the Preparation Courses are intended for those having the right to live and study in Hong Kong and it is the responsibility of applicants to determine their eligibility to study.  Please refer to “Notes to Non-local Applicants” on the HKU SPACE application for enrolment form.

Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance

This is an exempted course under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which this course may lead.

(Although the application deadline for registration with University of London is on or before 7 October, applicants should note that offering of HKU SPACE preparation courses package for the Graduate Diploma in Commercial Law is subject to sufficient enrolment number.  The package may not be offered if there is insufficient enrolment.)

Preparation Courses Enrolment is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Early enrolment is strongly recommended.

Online payment 
HKU SPACE provides 24-hour online service for students to make enrolment for single module (courses enrolled on first-come, first-served basis) via the Internet.   Applicants may settle the payment by using either PPS, VISA or Mastercard online.  Please note that 24-hour online enrolment will only be available 1 day before each module commences.  Applicant may click the > APPLY NOW to make online application, and then follow the instructions to fill in the online application form.

HKU SPACE MasterCard

Holders of HKU SPACE Mastercard can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment for courses with a tuition fee of HK$2,000 to $40,000. The cardholder must also be the course applicant himself/herself.  For enquiries, please contact our staff at any of the enrolment centres.

Notes
For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, Visa or Mastercard if the course is to start shortly.  Fees paid are not refundable or transferable.  

1. Receipts will be issued for fees paid but HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of receipt sent by mail.
2. For additional copies of receipts, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with a completed form and a crossed cheque for $30 per copy made payable to "HKU SPACE". Such copies will normally only be issued at the end of a course.
