The purpose of this short course is to provide the opportunity for current and former HKUSPACE Sport, Exercise and Recreation Management Subject Group students, to enhance their professional development by attaining a highly sought-after personal training certification.

This course aims to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the practical application of the NASM-OPT ™ Model in personal training and prepare them to take the examination* for the International NASM Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT) Certification. Learning material is include in the course.

* Participants should apply for the examination provided by OPS at his own cost (extra HK$3,900 for the examination)

* A hardcopy textbook is available (optional) at an additional fee of HK$600.

The fitness professional course introduces students to the human movement system, the NASM's Optimum Performance Training ™ (OPT™) Model and other domains of basic exercise science; assessment; exercise technique and training instruction; programme design; considerations in nutrition; client relations and behavioural coaching; and professional development, practice, and responsibility.

For first time enrolment

1. For first come, first served short courses, complete the Application for Enrolment Form SF26 and bring or post the completed form(s), together with the appropriate application/course fee(s) and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres.

2. Award-bearing and professional courses may require other information. Forms are usually available at the enrolment centres or on request from programme staff. Bring or post the completed form(s), together with the appropriate application/course fee(s) and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres.

3. Submit the fee for the On-line NASM Self Study material and examination fee (HK$3,900) by cheque (payable to “Optimum Performance Studio”) in the first lesson to the teacher.

• or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres, specifying  “Course Application” on the envelope.  HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.
