Fourth International Conference on Quality in Self-financed Higher Education 'Connecting Local and Global in the AI Era'

The School

Since its establishment in 1957, HKU SPACE has established itself as the first and leading continuing education provider in Hong Kong. The School was also the first to offer Transnational Education (TNE) in Hong Kong since 1964. Through robust partnerships within the University and with reputable overseas institutions, HKU SPACE continues to uphold high standards of academic quality, programme relevance, and international alignment.

The School celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2027 and, as the sector enters the AI era, HKU SPACE remains committed to advancing programme excellence, digital innovation, and global connectivity with a particular emphasis on the application of AI. In support of this mission, the School invites local and international teachers, researchers, educational policymakers, and professionals from academia and industry to share their experiences and insights at this international conference.

The Conference

This Fourth International Conference focuses on self‑financed higher education in Hong Kong which continues to play a crucial role in expanding quality continuing and professional learning opportunities for diverse groups of learners, including part‑time working adults and full‑time school leavers. As the education landscape undergoes rapid transformation driven by digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI), institutions must ensure that their programmes remain responsive, future‑ready, and aligned with both local needs and global developments. In addition to local awards, the availability of Transnational Education (TNE) programmes has been an important pillar of Hong Kong’s self‑financed sector. These are equally impacted by these shifts, bringing new possibilities for cross-border collaboration, innovative pedagogies, and global standards of quality.
