The youth of this generation can be described as a generation facing numerous challenges. On one hand, the decline of traditional values leaves them at a loss for direction, while on the other hand, the abundance of choices compared to before paradoxically leads to increased anxiety. In such an environment, how should young people navigate their lives? Should they surrender and do nothing, or should they revert to conservatism, harboring biases towards gender and embracing traditional values rooted in social hierarchy? Having more choices does not necessarily equate to a better situation, and it also brings psychological uncertainty, thereby causing anxiety. Returning to traditional values may alleviate anxiety, but it also means forfeiting the possibilities available to this generation. So how should one choose? French philosopher Alain Badiou maintains that neither of these options is viable, and the way out lies in whether young people dare to view life as an adventure and discover completely new possibilities. This time, I will introduce Badiou's philosophical ideas and examine how this philosopher plays the role of a contemporary Socrates, once again influencing the youth of the 21st century.
