Course Description

This programme is designed for people who are currently delivering sports coaching programmes in the community or have an interest in sports coaching to develop their knowledge and embark upon academic studies.

  • Year1: leading to the Advanced Certificate in Sport Coaching and Performance
  • Year2: leading to the Advanced Diploma in Sport Coaching and Performance

Holders of this Advanced Diploma can apply for direct entry to the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Work Based Learning Studies (Sport Coaching and Performance) and the BSc (Hons) Sport Management.

  • Monday 7:00 - 9:30pm (Year 1) (occassionally classes may finish at 10pm)
  • Wednesday 7:00 - 9:30pm (Year 1) (occassionally classes may finish at 10pm)
  • Tuesday 7:00 - 9:30pm (Year 2) (occassionally classes may finish at 10pm)
  • Thursday 7:00 - 9:30pm (Year 2) (occassionally classes may finish at 10pm)

  • Professional Practice I: Fundamental Instructor Training
 
Stage 2: HS 29-117-00 (31) starting September 2013
  • Body in Motion
  • Participation Behaviour and Exercise
  • Developing and Assessing Sport Performance
  • Commerical Skills in Exercise Programming
  • Performance Programming for Coaches: Theory to practice
  • Professional Practice II

Note: Modules are subject to change

  1. Individual modules can be taken on their own without the need to complete the whole Advanced Diploma.
  2. Assessment is based on coursework (written and practical) and examination.

Entry Requirements

Applicants shall:
(a) have gained in the HKDSE Examination Level 2 or above in 5 subjects (including Chinese Language and English Language), or equivalent; or
(b) be aged at least 21 years of age and have 3 years relevant work experience; or
(c) hold a Certificate in relevant subjects;

AND

Provide evidence of English proficiency, such as:
(a)  HKDSE English Language at Level 2; or
(b)  HKCEE English Language at Level 2; or
(c)  HKCEE English Language (Syllabus B) at Grade E (Grade C in the case of English Language (Syllabus A));

An interview and/or English test may be required.
