The Postgraduate Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management (“PGD”) is recognised by the Institute of Paralegals in the United Kingdom.  The Institute is a UK professional body for paralegals which sets national competency standards for paralegals and others non-lawyers working in the law. It is also Europe’s leading paralegal professional body (see https://theiop.org/).

During your study, you are eligible to join the Institute as Affiliate member. If you already have legal work experience then you can obtain Associate Membership (which confers a professional title: “Associate Paralegal(A.Inst.Pa)); thereafter graduates can obtain “Qualified Paralegal” (Q.Inst.Pa) status with over 6 years’ worth of legal practice experience (LPE).  Fellow of the IOP can be obtained by those who have at least 7.5 years’ worth of LPE after your name in business card.

Programme Details

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

The programme aims to teach the students to analyze ERM techniques and solution to real life business issues, making high-level executive decisions and strategic planning in the marketplace. 

Programme Structure

On completing six modules, which consist of two core modules, one module with 12-credit  and three moduels with 9-credit. Students will be awarded with a Postgraduate Diploma.  The programme consists of following modules, duration of each module ranges from 33 to 36 contact hours.
(**Students are required to pass both continuous assessment(50%) and the final examination(50%) in order to pass a module.**)

Exemptions

Maximum exemption is up to 50% of the number of modules studied.  The exemption application must be made in writing with supporting documents at the same time when submitting the application form for the programme. Application fee of each module exemption is HK$500  (Non-refundable). Those with exempted modules are required to pay a fee of HK$1,000.

1) MSc Risk Management - 風險管理理學碩士

Postgraduate Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management (Pgdip ERM) graduates who have completed the *pre-requisite modules, would be exempted 120 credits and only need to study the module of ‘Research Methods’ and also submit a 12,000-word dissertation to attain the award of MSc Risk Management offered by Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).

Business Interruption & Crisis Management - Mr. Kegan Chan, CPA (Aust), CTA
Of the 14 years of professional accounting experience, Kegan spent his last 7 years specializing in Risk & Actuarial Consulting where he had assisted numerous multinational conglomerates over Asia Pacific in quantifying their business interruption risk exposures as well as crisis management consulting. He is a qualified accountant with CPA Australia as well as a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong. Kegan is currently a Vice President at a global risk and insurance advisory firm and leads the analytics practice for Asia.
 
Commercial Crimes and Money Laundering Law - Ms HO, Y. H. Anna, LLBPCLLLLM
Anna is a practising barrister and has 20 years' experience in civil and criminal litigation (as prosecutor on fiat and/or defence counsel) and including money laundering cases.
 
Enterprise Risk Management Framework - Mr Michel Christoph Walter Adrian
Christoph Michel is the CEO and Founder of the risk consulting firm MCN Advisory Ltd. He has 30 years of experience in senior management positions in front office, risk, operations and finance functions in commercial and investment banks as well as in hedge funds in Europe and in Asia. Previous employers include JP Morgan, UBS, Credit Suisse, CLSA and Nomura. He completed his military career as an Air Force Battalion Commander. He Studied Mathematics, Economics and Business Administration with an M.A. degree from University of Zurich and an M.Sc. from the University of London. 
 
Enterprise Risk Management Framework - Mr Wilson Tsui
Mr. Tsui received his Master Degree in Manufacturing System Engineering in University of Warwick in 1991, and Master of Business Administration in 2005. Mr. Tsui has been working in DNV GL for 20 years and is responsible for the risk based management system assessment and training service in Hong Kong and Mainland China. DNV GL is a consultancy and assessment services provider with focus in managing risk, especially in the sectors of transport, energy, manufacturing and engineering.
 
Enterprise Risk Management Framework - Mr Jacky Hui, FRM, CPA
Seasoned risk practitioner with 15+ years of regional experience in managing financial risks in asset management, investment banking, private banking and brokerage. Proficiency in risk assessment and approval, rating methodology, ISDA/CSA, risk mitigation technique, market risk measurement, risk governance, and regulatory requirements.

Loretta has over 17 years experience in performing financial audit and internal audit in both professional firms and listed companies in Hong Kong respectively. Impact of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data on Compliance and Risk Management - Mr. F. W. Wan, BSc, MSc, CISA
Mr. Wan leads advisory practice across AI/RPA, Virtual Bank, Robo-Advisory and Digital Payment in an international consulting firm. Prior to joining the consulting sector, Mr. Wan was a regulator with primary focus on policy setting and issuing codes in relation to Regtech, Algo/Electronic Trading, Dark Pool and Robo-Advisory areas. Previously, he also played a lead role in driving Asia Pacific technology audit in a Top-tier US investment bank. He holds Master of Science degree.
 
Financial and Business Risk Management  - Mr. CHAN, KF - MAcc (CUHK), MBA (Warwick), FCCA, ACS, ACIS, ATIHK, CTA, CPA (Practising)

Mr. Chan has extensive teaching experience in degree courses and professional exam preparatory courses. The main teaching subjects include and Financial Management and Financial Reporting.

He also has over 20 years of working experience in financial reporting and auditing services. He is a practising CPA in Hong Kong, and is an INED of two publicly listed companies, one in Hong Kong and one in Singapore.

Entry Requirements

Applicants shall:

a) hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline awarded by a recognized institution;

AND

b) provide evidence of English proficiency (if the degree or equivalent qualification is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English) such as:

i. an overall band of 6.0 with no subtests lower than 5.5 in the IELTS; or

ii. a score of 550 in the paper-based TOEFL, or a score of 213 in the computer-based TOEFL, or a score of 80 in the  internet-based TOEFL; or

iii. HKALE Use of English at Grade E; or

iv. HKDSE Examination English Language at Level 3; or

v. other equivalent qualifications.

Course fees can be paid by cash, EPS, WeChat Pay or Alipay at any HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.

2. Cheque Or Bank draft

Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify the programme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of personal information and payment sent by mail.
3. VISA/Mastercard

Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or Mastercard, including the “HKU SPACE Mastercard”, at any HKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE Mastercard can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.

4. Online Payment

Online application / enrolment is offered for most open admission courses (enrolled on first come, first served basis) and selected award-bearing programmes. Application fees and course fees of these programmes/courses can be settled by using "PPS by Internet" (not available via mobile phones), VISA or Mastercard. In addition to the aforesaid online payment channels, new and continuing students of award-bearing programmes with available online service, they may also pay their course fees by Online WeChat Pay, Online Alipay or Faster Payment System (FPS). Please refer to Enrolment Methods - Online Enrolment  for details.

Notes

  • If the programme/course is starting within five working days, application by post is not recommended to avoid any delays. Applicants are advised to enrol in person at HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres and avoid making cheque payment under this circumstance.

  • Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, WeChat Pay, Alipay, cheque, FPS or PPS by Internet will be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will be reimbursed to the credit card account used for payment. 

  • In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme team for details.
  • Fees and places on courses cannot be transferrable from one applicant to another. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on each approved transfer.
  • HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment, receipt, or personal information sent by mail.
  • For payment certification, please submit a completed form, a sufficiently stamped and self-addressed envelope, and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to “HKU SPACE” to any of our enrolment centres.
