Programme Overview
Highlights
For secondary school students of English Literature, teachers, and adults, who want an introduction to the works of William Shakespeare and of the Romantic and the Modern periods — this course opens the door to these areas of focus.
Programme Details
This course is, in part, designed to help students master exam skills: covering not only practical analytical skills, such as thematic, narrative, and prosodic traditions, but also skills to help students become ingenious readers, both for academic purposes or leisure. To make this course relevant to secondary school students of English Literature, texts are selected from HKDSE Literature in English, International GCSE English Literature, and IGCSE First Language English & English Literature curriculums. Learning to read these texts under a systematic, critical framework is key.
In addition, this course teaches the skills to develop analytical and imaginative abilities to study unseen poetry, a challenging exam section for many.
