Highlights

This is an intensive yet fun ensemble training and collaboration workshop which will be held 3 days/week.

Programme Details

Do you want to enjoy playing chamber music with other enthusiasts? Do you want to know more about ensemble play? Do you need personalized coaching for upcoming chamber performance and examinations? This chamber music summer workshop can help with all these.

Selected participants will form different chamber groups (e.g. piano trio, strings quartets) with like-minded musicians (or you can come with your own ensemble!) to explore great works by composers of different periods. Coached by internationally renowned active artists Dr Felix Ungar and Dr Cherry Tsang, our supportive approach will allow participants to grow their practical skills both as an individual and as part of a chamber group.

A concluding mini concert will be held in the last session where students can showcase their enhanced collaboration skills and techniques.

Teachers:

Dr Felix Ungar holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. In conjunction with his undergraduate studies, Ungar also received a double-minor in East Asian Studies and Mandarin from Case Western Reserve University. He teaches in the Senior and Junior programmes at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), and is an Artist-Teacher and Lecturer at HKBU.

Dr Cherry Tsang received her Doctorate in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music in 2011, where she studied with Barry Snyder, for whom she was teaching assistant from 2008 to 2011. Tsang is a piano artist teacher in the HK Baptist University, and coaches chamber music and collaborative piano to undergraduate and graduate students in HKAPA.
