The global climate agenda evolves beyond COP30. How should financial institutions and business organisations in Hong Kong respond to the shifting landscape of green finance?

The Government launched the Roadmap on Sustainability Disclosure in Hong Kong in December 2024, outlining Hong Kong's strategy to adopt the International Financial Reporting Standards - Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards) no later than 2028.

Large-cap listed companies in Hong Kong were required to report Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2025 and all climate disclosures from 2026 under the HKEx ESG Reporting Code. The launch of the roadmap highlights the city’s strong commitment to continuing its leading role in facilitating green and sustainable financing and investment.
